Happy Thanksgiving.  Our first School Council Meeting of the 2013-2014 school year will be Wednesday October 16 at 6:45 in the library at Laurentian.  Our Vice Principal, Jeff Adam, will chair this meeting as I (Ms. Dawson), will be at the WREA Executive Seminar.  The agenda will be available that evening and we try very hard to start our meetings at 6:45 and end at 7:45.

In the past, administration has chaired the meetings and had Monica Nickel, a parent at Laurentian, has been the co-chair.  This was determined to encourage parents to attend and not feel pressure to be the chair, or secretary or treasurer.  This will be discussed again as the first item on the agenda to make sure it is still what our School Council wants.

We also have Matt Cain, a grade 8 core teacher, joining us to discuss year end excursions, and Lisa Dalbello, our music teacher, joining us to share a grant that she is applying for on behalf of our Laurentian music program.  In the past we have also tried to include an educational piece as part of each meeting and we have a few ideas lined up for this year, but we welcome your input as well.
