Parents and caregivers are invited to share their ideas for potential school projects for the 2024-25 Parents Reaching Out (PRO) Grant.
The application process is now open for the PRO Grants. This funding, provided by the Ministry of Education, allows school boards to work with their Parent Involvement Committee and/or school councils to develop projects that:
- Address local parent and caregiver needs
- Remove barriers to parent and caregiver participation in their child’s education.
Eligible projects must include at least one of the following areas:
- Addressing social inclusion and racism specifically anti-Indigenous, anti-Black, and anti-Asian racism and other prejudices toward racialized and marginalized groups
- Creating a safe and welcoming environment
- Demonstrating respect for parents and caregivers as valued partners within the education system regarding decisions about their child’s education
- Enhancing communication with teachers
- Informing parents and caregivers about the expectations of the Ontario Curriculum and supporting resources
The projects must be completed prior to June 13, 2025.
If you have an idea for your school or want more information, please reach out to your school council or contact your Principal by Friday, January 24, 2025.
The Waterloo Region District School Board’s PRO Grant Evaluation Committee will review all submissions and contact successful schools.
