To our Laurentian Public School students and families,

I want to address a serious situation involving our school today.

On Friday, October 12, 2018 at 2:15 pm, a message written on school property indicated an act of violence to be carried out at the school in the future. Police were contacted and have not found any reason to suspect that this threat is credible.

We take any threat of violence very seriously. Words and acts of violence or intimidation are never appropriate or funny. Actions or stunts like this will be met with consequences to ensure the safety of our school and our students.

Our staff and students’ safety is a responsibility we take very seriously. Our priority is to ensure that our schools remain safe places where students experience a caring learning environment that addresses their well-being.

If you ever see or hear about worrying behaviour on social media, please report it to an adult immediately. You can confidentially report things that concern you to any teacher, administrator or local police without fearing that you will be identified.

We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. As always, please call me at the school at 519-578-6160 if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Greg Jespersen

Principal
